SovExpo - Wednesday, September 27

SovExpo at the Yale University Library
September 26, 2017

On Wednesday, September 27, visit the CSSSI to take part in SovExpo: The Russian Revolution and its Legacy at Yale University Library. Stop by between 4 and 6 p.m., and then visit the Sterling Memorial Library nave at 6:30 for a reception and performance by the Yale Russian Chorus!

The CSSSI is one of six locations for this display of materials that contextualize the events of 1917 and their aftermath. Here at the Center, we’ll have U.S. government documents and political commentary about Soviet society, politics, and ideology as it developed, located in our newly opened lower level seminar room. In the 24-hour space, we’ll showcase Soviet emigre inventors, Leon Theremin and Igor Sikorsky, with a demonstration of the theremin and a brief talk on the inventor and the invention’s significance. Jack Vees, Director of the Center for Studies in Music Technology, will provide this demo and encourage guests to try playing the theremin!
